Torn photo restoration

Torn and ripped photographs
repaired — invisibly.

Whether your photograph has been ripped in two, torn at the edges, or damaged with sections missing — I can repair it digitally so the damage simply disappears.

The repair

How I repair torn photographs.

Tears and rips are among the most distressing types of photo damage — often the result of an argument, an accident, or simply years of being stored folded in a wallet or letter. The good news is that they're also among the most satisfying to repair.

If the torn pieces still exist, scan them all together on a flatbed scanner and I can digitally align and reassemble them — the tear itself is then removed entirely using careful cloning and blending techniques. The result is completely seamless.

If sections are missing entirely, I reconstruct them using context from the surrounding image — or where faces or clothing are affected, recreating the missing detail with photo-realistic precision.

Tip: scan both sides of the tear separately if you can — this captures the most detail from the torn edges and gives me the best possible material to work with.

Scanning tip for torn photos: If you have the pieces, lay them as close together as possible on the scanner bed — even with a small gap. Don't attempt to tape them together, as tape can cause further damage. Scan at 600dpi or higher and send me all the pieces as separate files if needed.
